Hangar Construction

Hangar frame, as at November 13, 2004 being attacked by the vicious winds that roar down the valley to Lake Illawarra. The building's completion is being delayed by weather.
A plea for donations to the building fund has gone out to all HARS supporters in order to cover the extra erection costs incurred by bad weather.
The erection work was stalled by wind, & the delay resulted in the constructers having to leave to go to their next job.
It is hoped that this work will recommence before end November.

Friday 27th August 2004

Its been a while since the first load of steel for the hangar construction arrived on site at Albion Park, but construction has now begun.

Over the last couple of weeks the steel has been moved into position and some preliminary assembly work carried out. On Wednesday 25th August the actual erection of the hangar commenced, starting at the western end.

As you can see from the photographs, this is not going to be a small hangar by any stretch of the imagination.

Saturday 15th May 2004

Its finally here!! The day all HARS members have been eagerly awaiting. Delivery of the steel to be used in the construction of hangar 1 has begun.

On returning to Albion Park from Mascot on Wednesday 12th May, after participating alongside John Travolta's 707 in the Qantas celebration of 50 years since the first Qantas Super Constellation commenced the Australia - North America route, Connie was parked on the hardstand outside the terminal building, where she will remain whilst construction of hangar 1 is carried out.

Only minutes after touching down the first truck load of steel arrived, it was a very welcome site to those members present. A further 2 loads were delivered on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th.
