The HARS Aircraft Fleet
Since its humble beginnings back in 1979, the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society has restored a large number
of aircraft and our fleet now comprises a commendable collection ranging from the small Cessna C-180 and a DeHavilland
Tiger Moth right through to the pride of the fleet, the Lockheed Super Constellation (Connie), and our latest acquisition, a Consolidated PBY Catalina.
The fact that many of the aircraft in the fleet are now in an airworthy condition does not mean the end of that particular project, rather, it continues with the emphasis now on continual maintenance.
Our emphasis has always been to endeavour to restore aircraft to flying condition. Even with the Beaufighter now residing in the US Air Force Museum, it was restored to flying standard in all aspects. Each and every original part that could possibly be used was re-worked. This meant that the Museum received a genuine restoration and not just a replica. The Society is very fortunate in that one of our most significant assets is having within its membership over seventy licensed aviation engineers. These licenses embrace virtually all of the skill sets within the aviation industry, and it is this asset that makes it possible for HARS to be able to successfully undertake such restoration projects.
Full details of all the aircraft in the HARS fleet, including photographs, specifications and a brief history, can be viewed by selecting the aircraft from the menu on the left of this page.
Wherever possible we have tried to include a photographical history of the restoration of each aircraft, which in many cases, shows the extent of the work needed to be undertaken in order to get these aircraft back in the air and restored to their former glory.
