The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society would like to invite the Private Business Sector to consider becoming partners together with BlueScope Steel, Australian Steel Mill Services, Cleary Bros Limited, Transfield Services, Shellharbour City Council, Wollongong City Council, Kiama Municipal Council and other major Illawarra, national and international companies in the establishment of the Australian Historical Flying Centre to be located at the Illawarra Regional Airport, Albion Park NSW.

The Society intends to create a world class Aviation Museum exhibiting many historic aircraft in flying condition. In addition, the museum will preserve many items of historic aviation memorabilia for present and future generations. The Museum facility itself will be an award winning design, which will become a showcase for products and services from the Illawarra region.

Principal partners will have permanent recognition for their participation in the venture. In addition each principal partner will have the opportunity to make use of the facility for conferences, promotional displays, awards, etc. and will also have the opportunity of having long term naming rights established within the Museum complex thereby having long term exposure within the region.

Since 1996 the Society has been endeavouring to establish a permanent location to house their fleet of flyable aircraft. Various sites were identified however, most proved to be unsatisfactory because of either distance or operational constraints.

Shellharbour City Council was approached to assess a site at the Illawarra Regional Airport and their enthusiasm prompted the Society to enter into negotiations for the establishment of a permanent facility.

The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society will become the operational controller of the Museum. Because of the unique aviation expertise within the Society, significant emphasis will be placed on the educational role they intend to play within the region.
