I flew on one DC-4 with Ansett-ANA in about 1964 Adelaide – Mt Gambier and yes I got up in the cockpit. Can even remember the pilots name David Stacy. Some of you may know of him. I was 11 ish

At Emerald Beach 2456- Monday Pm heard the drone of multiple radial engines looked up and saw a DC 4. Surprise is a mild form of what I had, I don't think I have seen one since I was a teenager. A short while later I think I heard a DC 3 however it was below the tree line and could not be seen. It did not take long on internet to find the owner.
