Connie one step closer to flying
'CONNIE' Super Constellation — By benmorgan on September 5, 2009 at 12:43 pmLast weekend saw the Connie crew hard at work fitting the replacement engine gearbox, bringing Connie another step closer to airworthy status. Warren, Trevor, Edge and their team are now focussed on the remaining squawks and maintenance items required to get Connie back in the air. Great job boys and we look forward to seeing her fly again!

I watched the guys rebuilding Connie enjoying a few beers at the Embassy Suites in Tucson several years ago. We had a chance to share a few beers in plastic cups!
I really enjoyed the video of the rebuilding and the flight to Australia.
Keep flying!!!

My dad was a FEO on the Connies starting back in 1953. Unfortunately he has Alzheimer’s and cannot remember those great days. I still have his log books. When ‘Connie’ first got here in 1996 I took him to Mascot to see her – the tears started flowing, even though he knew it wasn’t an original Qantas aircraft. I saw her at Bankstown airport every day for some years, and saw her taking off several times. I still marvel at the sound of those beautiful Pratt & Whitney 18 cylinder radials. Keep up the good work guys.
