Work Progressing on Beaufighter
Beaufighter Mk21 — By admin on May 4, 2009 at 4:41 pmWork is progressing on the fuselage section of our Mk 21 Beaufighter, with its completion due sometime before Christmas this year. The extensive restoration works are in the hands of new HARS member, Mr Tim Rowe. Tim joined HARS back in March of this year, and since then has made steady progress with the fuselage restoration. Tim recently completed 4 years of Aerospace Engineering at UNSW and is passionate about vintage aviation.
Tim’s work to date has included the removal of fuselage skins, stringers and bulkheads to enable their refurbishment and in some cases replacement. It is expected that the fuselage will be ready for re-assembly moving towards August this year. The Mk 21 Beaufighter will be restored and painted in 30 squadron livery, to honor our close association with the 30 squadron association.
Good work Tim and we’re all looking forward to seeing this great project progress.
